It was the most intensely bright occurrence of astronomy I have ever seen with my own eyes, definitely out of the ordinary from any meteor showers I’ve witnessed before. I frequently watch the seasonal meteor showers in California in the summer months.

The initial flash looked like a regular shooting star, more blue and white, then it exploded towards the end of the arc with purple and white.
