I was landing my 757 with my other pilot and we saw it while we were in the landing phase. It lasted a while. Tower noticed it to and mentioned it as we cleared the runway. Thought it was a comet. But it clearly was something large burning up in the atmosphere.

It passed north to south horizontal flight path. Large fireball. It broke up but did not explode. Just faded away. But what was amazing was how long it lasted and how slow it ‘appeared’ to be traveling. Never seen anything like it flying airplanes for 20 years.
